Dave became a World Champion rudimental snare drummer at the age of 16, studying with Tom Key, John Bozworth, and the Late Great Alex Duthart.
He since has taught, composed for, and performed with dozens of pipe bands all over the eastern US.
He currently works with “The Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County”, in New Jersey.
2) Orchestral Percussion
Dave is currently Timpanist and Principal Percussionist with the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra.
He was the featured soloist playing the Russell Peck “Harmonic Rhythm: Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra” in April ’03.
His past experience includes working with The North Carolina Symphony, The Brooklyn Opera, and The New Music Consort.
At the Manhattan School of Music, Dave studied Timpani with the great Fred Hinger, and studied general percussion and mallets with Paul Price, Jim Priess.
Dave began playing drumset at the age of 8, playing his first professional job when he was 13 years old. His first teacher (and still one of his most memorable) was Pete Martin, a retired Vaudeville Freelancer who settled in Charlotte NC.
He is accomplished in both jazz and rock styles, and has performed or recorded with Eddie Bert, Kevin Callaghan Trio/Quartet, Charles Ellis, Ed Hiques, Ed Howard, Frank Kimbrough, Carmen Leggio, Sonny & Pearly, Lyles West, Joe Bouchard (of Blue Oyster Cult), & Dennis Dunaway (of Alice Cooper).
4) Hand Drumming / World Percussion
Dave studied hand drums with Master Drummer Babatunde Olatunji, M’Bemba Bangoura, and Michael Marcus.
He has performed and/or recorded with Peter Cetera, Ceili Rain, Michael Dorn, The Laura Dean Dancers & Musicians, Paul Halley's "Chorus Angelicus", John Marshall, and Glen Velez to name a few.
He founded the World Percussion group “WoMaDe” which performs throughout the Tri-state area and New England, and has been listed on the Performing Artists Roster for the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
